I have heard it said, that in the history of all these ale houses, public houses, inns and hotels, no more than 17 existed all together at the same time.

The following two pubs are often included in other peoples lists but are not strictly Malmesbury pubs as the Coopers Arms was nearer Brokenborough than Malmesbury and the Royal Oak was on the Common nearer Foxley than Malmesbury.
